INDEED, GOD CREATED!

Image
Have you ever sat down and think of how the world is? Have you ever thought how it would have been? If one very important gender was not in existence? I am sure you know who I mean! The compassion of most of them; if not all have, is unimaginable Loving and soft-hearted they are, Full of tenderness and kindness, Oh! What a great creation. She is intellectually challenging, Ambitious in life, Consistent in all her decisions, And willing to put all her effort for you and me. A magical woman, Brave in all the situations with a visionary mind, Saviour in all times of need, She always lives the deed. Elegant and full of composure, Courageous and confident she is, Humbleness and confidence, All is in her. KELVIN MWAMBURI

Solidarity

Image
“We don’t need unity in theory, we need solidarity in practice” Curious George Brigade, anarchy in the age of Dinosaurs Solidarity can be defined as a bond/unity between or among persons bonded by the same unifying principles. In the lay man’s linguistic tenable, we can refer to it as being fully and lively present to the other. We live our solidarity in a meaningful way by keenly being attentive to the needs of others; CHARITY.  I n Lavigerie House I have observed that we actually manifest solidarity in two dimensions; first in the interior; within our family which begins from the team since we live in teams. Secondly, in the exterior; where we extend to people outside our community, that is, the consortium (Philosophy Centre Jinja), our pastoral places and the rest of the communities around us. Our Founder’s Day at Lavigerie Formation House

Image
It was the 122nd death anniversary of our Founder Cardinal Charles  Lavigerie. Various groups of people were invited including all t he  religious congregations attending the Philosophical Center of Jinja  (PCJ). The family relatives of our confreres and students living  around Jinja were also invited. The Eucharistic celebration was  presided by Fr. Gerard Chabanon, our Ugandan Sector Superior. The  celebration commenced with procession. Fr. Gerard explained more about  our Founder and the charism of the Missionaries of Africa.  The  congregation gathered in the hall after mass. We listened the speech  of our rector and the chairman of the students. Lavigerie’s invitation  “few people, too few people have the ultimate vocation: humanity” was  highlighted. The different teams of Lavigerie formation house (Mapera,  Kiwanuka, Tobi Kizza, and Amans) prepared different kinds of drama for  the guest on our fou...

The More

The more I am my true self, The more I love you The more I walk through life, The more I understand you The more I touch my brokenness, The more I accept you The more I am lonely and void, The more I become a home for you The more I am stuck on the path, The more I open my arms to give you a push The more I loose the horizon, The more I am patient with you The more I stumble and fall on my journey, The more I see in you an angel The more I discover our common humanity, The more I stand for your dignity The more I embrace my beauty, The more I am The more I love   The more the world becomes a better place Bawendsom

The Three Strongest Words

Right from the beginning, from an encounter between two individuals, to a mixture of people all over the world, we need to use only three words in order to avoid hurting each other and   avoid conflicts and fights. These great words I am talking about are sorry, love and thanks. Right! To form a sentence for each, let us say, I am sorry , I love you and Thank you . Yes, I know that it is very easy to write the words. I can feel how sweet they sound to my ears. I feel touched when they are said to me. See the smile on my face after I hear I am sorry, I love you and thank you . This is because I feel that I am loved after receiving I love you , I find it easier to lend or to give out more after receiving thank you and I am ready to forgive after hearing I am sorry . Wow! Everything is just cool with me after hearing any of these three words. Let us turn to the other side. It is very difficult for me to say I am sorry because I do not want to feel defeated, cowardly or to be...

The joy of caring as pursuing our responsibilities

Image
Filbert Tarimo The spirit of caring for the environment in Lavigerie House, is enjoyable. It surrounds several kinds of intelligence. Normally the Society of the Missionaries of Africa, nurtures students to grow in the aspects of intellectual, spiritual, human formation and pastoral work. As part of the signs of intellectual growth, which is intermingled with spiritual formation, human formation incorporates doing manual work which involves several intelligences, such as body/kinaesthetic and spacial intelligences. The use of the body parts, creatively to make the compound beautiful, also, helping in the development of sufficient reasons for the existence of things the way they appear by nature and how they should look like. Areas of concentration include our gardens, where we obtain our vegetables, our animal farm, our banana plantation where we obtain our yellow bananas and Matooke. Together with this, we have candidates who are committed in taking care of our Chapel wo...

The Pelican

Image
Artist: Jean Marie Bamutaze The Pelican is a water bird that takes full care of its young ones. It is all things to its young ones the fact that it hatches in big numbers. In times of scarcity of food, it feeds its young ones on its own blood by biting itself to bleed. In that way, the Pelican so much inspires and speaks to us at Lavigerie House and the Society of the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers) at large. It helps us feel our identity in the Gospel and in Christ through his laying down of life for us. Again inspired by Cardinal Lavigerie our founder in his words “Be all things to all”, this is to be just as a Pelican to its young ones. This is the greatest value of love that we embrace in our service to human kind. Following the inspiring sacrifices of Jesus and the Pelican who both shade their blood for the survival of others, we too be there in special attention and priority to the needs of others. We portray this through helping the needy, the n...
