Embracing our founders’ words, “the evangelisation of Africa must be accomplished by the Africans themselves, once they have become Christian and apostles”, it has always been a good initiative to welcome more people called to His vineyard. Every year, candidates join different stages in formation as time takes part mostly in the regulating progress. Welcoming the new community members is always joyful as it assures the continuity of the presence of labourers for tomorrow to take care of His vineyard. Happily, we welcomed our thirteen new community members with open heart and fundamental convivial attitude. With spicy barbecued varieties of meat alongside other types of foods, the evening was enthusiastic to exceed every ones’ expectations. Have you ever sat down and think of how the world is? Have you ever thought how it would have been? If one very important gender was not in existence? I am sure you know who I mean! The compassion of most of them; if not all have, is unimaginable Loving and soft-hearted they are, Full of tenderness and kindness, Oh! What a great creation. She is intellectually challenging, Ambitious in life, Consistent in all her decisions, And willing to put all her effort for you and me. We need more men who are capable of moral leadership and seminary can provide the formation needed to do that -- even if they don't become priests. Who should enter seminary? Only those who are 100% certain that they will become a priest? Or should all men “test the waters” and spend a year or two at their local seminary? When discerning young men consider entering seminary, they are often asked by friends and relatives, “Are you 100% certain that you are called to become a priest?” Many young men struggle with this question for years and will never enter seminary because they are not absolutely certain that God is calling them to this vocation. This is unfortunate, as seminary shouldn’t be viewed as a “priest-making facility,” where young men enter without any doubts or fears and magically become a priest at the end of it all. The event was to be held on (14/08/2016) but unluckily, due to the bereavement of Peter Wachira's family. The event was postponed. New members of the community were welcomed warmly. The event was full of fun as it was a perfect avenue to interact socially. It was a clear picture of the united, friendly community that I was joining. Sport is one of the aspects in the four pillars of our formation, basically community life. We as Lavigerie community endeavor to foster this aspect. Football among the many brings this out clearly and makes us one family with a common goal that we yearn for during the antagonism. It links the whole Lavigerie house - formators and students, who actively participate directly or indirectly in the game. The players and the cheering squad are all connected by the same objective of triumph and toil hand in hand to accomplish it. At the beginning we chant Lavigerie anthem -  Sancta Maria to bond ourselves with the founder and invoke his spirit to aid us during the match. The players are inspired by the cheering squad during the match enhancing their hazards of winning. We, the PCJ community, were delighted upon completing the Academic year 2014/2015. Simply, it was a successful learning period and a remarkable scholarly achievement for the 3 rd year students. It’s on the closing day, the 8 th of June 2015 that we summed up all this joy of successful conclusion of the academic year with prayer, social interaction and sharing a meal.   Bichop Charles Wamika during the offertory Charles Wamika, the Bishop of Jinja Diocese, celebrated the Eucharist in his inspirational sharing he remarked that completing this academic struggle is a step to be of support to the entire community so let us find ways on how we are to be of value to the people beyond our demarcated boundaries with the aid of the knowledge acquired in the 3 years of study and formation.
