Who on this
earth has never heard about football? Even if it is neither your hobby nor your
favourite, at least you have heard about it from someone somewhere. In the Jinja
Formation house, we not only hear about it but also play it. With many
advantageous and disadvantageous traits coming along with it, I can do say join
us one time and feel it yourself.
Being
majorly referred to as a demanding sport, regardless of the position one
performs in the field, it is a great promoter of physical fitness. As it
requires fully involvement of the body as a whole, one has to be strong and
fast both in thinking and handling the precious ball.
Sometimes I
imagine if one of our key players goes down and do not stand back on his two
feet, how will be the team! The risk of getting injuries is very high
especially when you are in the field for the 90 minutes. It is only by God’s
Grace we have managed to play against other congregations and a society in the
PCJ super League. Though minor injuries have been there, God’s hand is vivid in
that field, I say this as a witness. Through the encounters, I believe we all
have seen the hand of God and His involvement.
I (we) can admit that, football has consistently install in us the concept of being keen with time. The match has 90 minutes and within the minutes we have to determine whether to win or just be present in the match. After the 90 minutes whistle, we celebrate, as it has been the case since we have always won and in the 90 minutes, come out a great joy to all.
Lastly, football has brought us together as ONE family rooted firmly in Christ. A clap for the Other Eleven Squad (cheering squad) as they have always kept everything under control by giving the hardworking and dedicated players more support. With enthusiasm, after the match, we all gather together to chant Sancta Maria in veneration to Virgin Mary and giving thanks for her continuous intersessions and protection throughout the match.
